UKs largest ship and port simulation training centre is coming to the Warsash School of Maritime Science and Engineering where we will enhance our portfolio of courses in maritime education, training and consultancy to the shipping and port industries across a variety of academic and professional disciplines.

As part of our significant investment in a new state of the art Maritime Simulation and Digital learning suite, the school is looking to recruit three enthusiastic and experienced maritime professionals for three posts in the current round of recruitment:

Lecturer/senior lecturer in maritime simulation full-time position (navigation)
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and experienced maritime professionals with seagoing and maritime teaching experience in possession of a minimum of STCW AII/2 deck certificate or relevant equivalent professional qualifications. Current knowledge of modern merchant ship handling, navigation equipment and bridge operational procedures is essential. The successful applicant is expected to offer maritime courses in bridge simulation, ECDIS, GMDSS and other areas. Experience of tugs, VTIS, dynamic positioning, the superyacht sector, offshore industry or tankers would be an advantage.

Lecturer/senior lecturer in maritime simulation full-time position (LICOS)
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and experienced maritime professionals with seagoing and maritime teaching experience in possession of a minimum of STCW AII/2 deck or engineering management level certificate or relevant equivalent professional qualifications together with dangerous cargo endorsement in oil/chemical/gas. Current knowledge of dangerous cargo equipment and operational procedures is essential. The successful applicant is expected to offer maritime courses in petro-chemical, gas and oil courses and operate a LICOS simulator. Additional expertise in bridge simulation and/or engineroom simulation and HV courses would be an advantage.

Lecturer/senior lecturer in maritime simulation full-time position (engineer/HV and gas)
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and experienced maritime professionals with seagoing and maritime teaching experience in possession of a minimum of STCW AII/2 engineering management level certificate or relevant equivalent professional qualifications together with dangerous cargo endorsement of gas. Current knowledge of dangerous cargo equipment and gas tanker operational procedures is essential. The successful applicant is expected to offer maritime courses in gas and operate a LICOS simulator. Additional expertise in port operation simulation would be an advantage.

Applications for all three posts are encouraged from people with good seagoing experience and preferably with some simulator-based teaching experience. Academic qualifications to degree level or an academic background with research or teaching experience is desirable but not essential as the successful applicant will be supported in completing a post graduate teaching qualification.

Some weekend, unsocial hours and UK and international travel may be required.
